Fresco painting of Lukáš Vávra in Southern Bohemia

Fresco works by Lukáš Vávra in South Bohemia This diploma thesis is devoted to the work of the late Baroque fresco painter, and Vyšší Brod Cistercian, Lukáš Vávra. His artistic legacy has not yet been documented in its entirety, nor has it been examined historically. This thesis is the first effort in this direction. It is based on data drawn mainly from the Historical Archive of the Vyšší Brod Monastery, as well as from other archival sources. Vávra's works are included in this discussion, especially the frescoes in the monasteries of Vyšší Brod and Zlatá Koruna, as well as framed paintings that have been preserved. With the help of relevant respected sources, Vávra's artistic endeavors are then placed in the cultural and historical context of Southern Bohemia. This relates primarily to the Schwarzenberg Dominions in South Bohemia as well as the environment of the South Bohemian Cistercian monasteries in Vyšší Brod and in Zlatá Koruna.
Haptic model for the blind and partially sighted according to the image of the Madonna of Vyšší Brod

Bachelor thesis is processed in theoretical-practical form. The theoretical section deals with the understanding and functionality of Gothic paintings in connection with the medieval mentality. It also outlines the interconnectedness of artistic currents in Europe and the Czech lands. The most important historical motives and the most important preserved murals and plate paintings in the Czech lands are mentioned. The work also deals with the independent subject of madonnas and their significance for medieval society. In the subsequent part of the theoretical work, the plate image of the Vyšebrod Madonna is analysed in connection with its location in the Cistercian monastery in Vyšší Brod. With regard to the practical part, the issue of perception of works of art by people with visual impairment and their appropriate compensatory devices is mentioned, including haptic models primarily designed for the blind and partially sighted. The aim of the practical work is to transfer the plate painting depicting the Vyšebrod Madonna into relief to meet the requirements of the compensatory aid.
Václav Marek and Jan Šnéberger - amateur organbuilders in Vyšší Brod

The bachelor thesis deals with activities of two amateur organ builders who have been devoted to the repairs of organs in South Bohemia since the early 1980s. In the Czech Republic were not many good-quality repair workshops during the time of their tenure. The workshop of repairers Václav Marek and Jan Šnéberger, which was based in Vyšší Brod, managed to repair tens of organs. Interventions in organs, which increased the quality of music played in churches and monasteries during worship or concerts, were performed by this pair of amateur organ builders for free. The aim of this thesis is to describe and evaluate activities of this couple and focus on the repair of organs in the above-mentioned period.
Abbey gravestones in the cloister Vyšší Brod

This thesis is devoted to abbatial tombstones, which are located in the monastery Vyšší Brod. The criterium of the selection of this abbatial tombstones was the state of conservation of the gravestones allowing their historical, epigraphic and art processing between 1463 1695. The work is developed and based on the methodology by PhDr. Jiří Roháček, PhD. It also includes an outline of the historical background of the Cistercian order also contains a history of this monastery. The aim of this work is to create a detailed treatise processing abbey tombstones.
History and present of Cistercian monasteries libraries in Bohemia

Diploma thesis discusses the history of the library of the Cistercian order in Bohemia since the founding of the first monastery in 1143 through the Hussite wars, the Thirty Years War, the dissolution of monasteries during the reign of Joseph II. to the present. Most attention is given to the monasteries, which remained preserved for our generation. The final part of the diploma thesis deals with libraries in Vyšší Brod, Zlatá Koruna and Osek from the perspective of the reader. Attention is paid mainly funds, services and accessibility.
Holidays and traditions in the process of integration of the Vietnamese minority in the Czech Republic - case study Vyšší Brod

This thesis will research, as its main theme, the integration of the Vietnamese minority in the Czech Republic. The author will use Migrant Policy Integration Index (MIPEX) and briefly describe the tools and intentions of the integration policy of the Ministry of Interior of the Czech Republic. The work will focus on the role of holidays and traditions in maintaining an awareness of the cultural identity of the Vietnamese minority in the Czech Republic. The author will analyze relevant scientific literature on this topic, and then try to confront this situation by interviewing Vietnamese in Vyšší Brod in South Bohemia. The author will also try to determine how these Vietnamese families approach holidays and traditions common in the Czech Republic.
The economic uplift of the former political district Kaplice in the first half of the 20th century

The purpose of this paper is to describe the development of the economic life of the predefined region of the former South Bohemian political district Kaplice in the first half of the 20th century. The area of this territory was different than it is today. This district was formed by three judicial districts, which were Kaplice, Vyšší Brod and Nové Hrady, which must first be properly geographically grasp. The greatest emphasis is placed on the work of electrification of the district focused way, took place. In this work, emphasis is also placed on the way the local people tried to accept or reject electricity. Since it was a very poor region, after the industry, we are dealing with the problem of depopulation of the region. These issues are also engaged. Furthermore, I am concerned with other economic activities so that people in this area, a minimum interest of investors able to sustain a culturally developed. The diploma thesis describes the cultural heritage, the history and the natural conditions of the Vltava valley between the towns of Loučovice and Vyšší Brod, as well as the possible didactic use of the area for biology classes and extra-curricular activities focusing on biology. The thesis proposes an outdoor learning programme based in the area, using an environmental game.
